About me + MY WHY

Hello again! I am originally from the Philippines. Growing up, my family and I moved a few times. Consequently, I kept moving from one school to another. Hence, I did not like school in my younger years. I was always a shy girl, afraid to be noticed by the teacher. I was usually absent which is why I did not understand most of my lessons. In addition, I did not like math. I remember almost failing in math class.

It was until later in high school that I found myself enjoying math. I realized that it was because of my friends and teachers who saw my potentials and believed in me. Soon, I was the one tutoring my peers in math. I eventually aced my tests, joined math quiz bees and graduated with honors.

I developed this desire in my heart to help children to not be afraid in learning and discover more of themselves, just like what happened to me. I then decided to pursue my dream- to teach.

After receiving my bachelor's degree in education and taught for a couple of years, I saw a greater need in society to help children gain confidence and empower them to develop their skills and capabilities.

Through tutoring, I am able to create an opportunity for the learners to boost their confidence and enhance their mathematical skills. I am excited to support your child not just in math but also empower them!

I believe every child is different yet special in their own ways. Not all learners can grasp abstract concepts early in their life, which may cause anxiety in learning math. This is why I am convinced  it is important for kids to learn the connection of math lessons and physical things. Aside from making it personalized, I plan to use manipulatives and tactile materials to better support their learning in school.

I am looking forward  to tutor your child! For me, each tutoring I do is not just a job; but it represents my mission—to help kids learn math for a lifelong skill.
